In developing a website, the User Interface (UI) and the User Experience (UX) are crucial and interrelated. Let’s pay special attention to the following explanations to get to know the UI and the UX!
User Interface (UI)
User Interface (UI) is an interface design for machines and software, such as computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices focusing on enhancing the users’ experiences to enjoy the visual display designs on a website or an application. UI enables users to stay connected and interact with products and functions to beautify the device’s display in order to satisfy the users’ experiences. UI, however, has to be easily understandable and used.
User Experience (UX)
User Experience (UX) is a process of designing a product through the users’ approaches. UX can also be called as a process of designing a website or an application to ease users to use the website or the application.
The UX components include the products’ features, design structures, navigations to the product usage, visual design aspects and other users’ interactive aspects. It also deals with how accurately you decide your suitable branding, contents and copywriting for your users.
The Difference between UI and UX
Purpose of Design
UI is to beautify the products’ display whilst the UX is to focus on the users’ satisfaction to use the products.
Process of Design
The process of UX design is based on the user research to create the favorite products that users need. After completing the research, the designer will outline the design sketch with a wireframe and a prototype. On the other hand, UI design, done by user research as well, is needed to create an interesting display which suits the concepts. The UI designer will have to use a mockup to create the design.
Components of Design
The UI components focus on the beauty of the product displays, such as color, multimedia, typography, icon, etc. The UX components, however, consist of almost all product’s components, such as features, design structures, navigations, interface displays, copywriting and branding.
Tools
UI uses some available applications, for example the Flinto, Principle, Frames X, Adobe Illustrator, etc., while UX uses prototyping applications, such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, and so on.
Required Skills
The skills that UI designers need are graphic design, creative thinking, branding design and the convergent thinking ability. UX designers, on the other side, must be able to do research, to have critical and creative thinking, to analyze and to solve problems and to do the wireframe.
Both UI and UX play crucial roles in developing websites and applications because the better the UI and the UX, the more satisfaction users will get. It will result in the increase of the product selling and the business growth.
